The Employes' Retirement System (ERS) of the City of Milwaukee manages the System's $4 billion pension fund.
ERS needed a modern, responsive website with highly functional and robust search capabilities, and Northwoods delivered. The powerful search feature enables users to explore a vast library of resources spanning nearly 80 years, narrowing results according to names, common phrases, and keywords.
Northwoods also completed a redesign of the organization's public-facing website, implementing it on Titan CMS, an enterprise level content management system powered by Northwoods. Accessibility best practices were thoughtfully integrated throughout the design and development process to ensure the site is inclusive, user-friendly, and easy to navigate for all audiences.
A key feature of the ERS website is the retirement calculator, custom built by Northwoods, which allows city employees to input personal information to view estimated benefits at retirement, explore “what-if” scenarios, and better understand survivorship options. This convenient planning tool relies on back-end lookups, tables, and translations to quickly perform complex calculations, providing an important service to ERS users.
